KMRC 50 Years Anniversary Exhibition

This year we have even more top-quality model railway layouts in the popular scales, some on only their first or second exhibition. Enthusiasts will find British, continental and US-themed layouts to entertain and inspire. However, we haven't forgotten our younger visitors who will find lots to do including a 'Thomas' inspired layout they can operate, 'Candy Mine' where they get to keep the cargo, garden railway sized trains they can operate and Playmobile for our very young visitors.

Layouts


Large Scale


Chop it up Lumber - A GN15 Canadian logging layout (1/24 scale) with a working water wheel and beam engine. Size: 12' x 3'.

Candy Mine - Junior visitors can drive a train to the mine and collect a free sack of sweets to take away with them! 

Indoor Garden Layout  - A garden size railway featuring trains from round the world, including some of Thomas' friends. Junior visitors can operate trains under supervision. Operated by the Yorkshire Dales G Scale Society.


O Gauge


Marshside - A 1930s branch terminus LMS layout set in the S. Ribble Valley. This is only its second exhibition. Size: 20' x 13'.

Prime Cereals - A USA cereals production plant in the 1970s, with sound-equipped locos and silos over 100 scale feet tall! Size: 25' x 5'.

Nicola Landing  - A Canadian lakeside railway featuring trackwork in 2' and 3' gauges by master modeller Bob Harper on only its second exhibition. Size: 20' x 7'.

Wick End  - Loosely based on the terminus station at Wick in Scotland, this late 1980s layout features sound-equipped locos.
Billingate - Made completely from LEGO, this O gauge(ish) layout shows just how versatile these popular building blocks are. Exhibiting for the first time in its current form. Size: 22' x 8'.


OO/HO Gauge


Five Mile House - LNER period based on an actual location near Lincoln. Size: 18' x 13'6"

Edenbridge Town - 1930's Southern Railway, of the actual location in Kent. Features sound effects and day/night lighting effects. Size: 16' x 2'.

Queens Road Depot -Modern image diesel shed featuring sound equipped locos in EWS, DRS, GBRf and Network Rail liveries. Size: 9' x 1'6".

Museum of Transport - Trams, trains, a fairground moving canal boats and lift bridges all feature in this amazing and incredibly popular layout. See if you can find Michael Portillo clutching his Bradshaw's Guide whilst filming! Size: 19' x 8'6".

Gresten (Austria) - A metre-gauge HOe railway in the area between Saltzburg and Vienna, set on 1985-1990. Size 20' x 1'6".

Thomas' Friends - Junior visitors can operate this layout free of charge and will be instructed in the finer arts of being a train driver.

Hornby Dublo 3-Rail - Grandad's toys! A large train set laid out during the show featuring Hornby Dublo trains from the 1950s and 1960s.


N Gauge


Barton - Set in the Goole area in 1917-1918 towards the end of WW1, this layout features traffic being produced to support the war effort. A model of the airship R29 which sank a German submarine floats above the layout. Size: 10' x 10'.
Culthwaite - A modern image Settle-Carlisle line layout set in the recent past and north of Appleby. Size: 8' x 2'6"

Junior Layout  - A preserved railway being constructed by the Keighley Club juniors. This is a work in progress and new members to join in the fun are always welcome! Size: xxxxxx

N Gauge Society Layout  - A demonstration of what can be achieved in a small space in this diminutive scale.
