Juniors are welcome to come to the club on Saturday Afternoons where they will received a very warm welcome. We cater for the absolute beginner to the advanced amateur. Under 12's can "play trains" with a collection of proprietory equipment and may be invited to operate one of the adult layouts under supervision.
Over 12's have the opportunity to join one of the layout groups, operate their own rolling stock and learn how to model a railway. You can learn how to construct a baseboard, lay track including soldering and wiring instruction. We can also show you how to make scenic items like trees, buildings and line-side equipment.
You can obtain operating layout certificates .
KMRC Juniors meet Saturday afternoons from 1.00pm at the clubrooms
Juniors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian, and as a result, the Club now inadvertently has a "parents' social group" who chat, read, drink tea and use their laptops on Saturday afternoons. Handmade quilts have made their appearance and one or two parents have even started modelling themselves...
The base boards for the now ready for track laying - the next skills day will be instruction on how to build and lay track.
