Sunday 9th October 2016

Our 8th 7mm Festival was held on Sunday 9th October to coincide once again with the KWVR Autumn Steam Gala.  The day was one of the busiest yet with 10 superb layouts running, representing examples of 7mm modelling of all kinds. We also had many other items on offer, from refreshments, demonstrations and the major guild stands. Below are just a few pictures from the day.

Opening time... the public were waiting                                      Our multi tracked test track

7mm Narrow Gauge Association - models and publications.
They brought along this impressive display, complete with extra detail

The ever popular crowd pleaser! Watch pre-group long freights and full-length passenger trains run through a full scenic landscape, and even photograph your own loco at the head of one of our trains

Runswick Bay
Scenic magnificence on this circular per-group North Eastern layout, set on the East coast of North Yorkshire.
Watch ironstone hoppers loading and coal wagons dispensing into the drops as they day fades slowly into night

Foston Mills
A bucolic branch line setting with superb scenics and buildings. The location exists, but the North Holderness Light Railway never got there in real life. This will be the last chance to see this layout in Keighley as it has been sold to a new owner in the south of England

Bolton Priory (Skipton MRC)
1930's LNER period branch serving a small station in a rural setting.  Guest layout from Skipton MRC

The grit and glory years personified in this 1950's -1960's portrayal of Hellifield Shed on the Settle-Carlisle main line

Suppose the Midland Railway had extended its Grassington branch up Wharfedale to link with the NER at Bishop Auckland.  There was such a proposal - and this is what the result might have looked like!  Coverdale is a work in progress and new team members are always welcome

Port Ross (Morecambe & Heysham MRC)
A day at the seaside!  Lots of cameos to look at as the trains move on and off the set

Schola Green (Morecambe & Heysham MRC)
A small layout depicting a station at the end of a branch line with lots of detail. The layout can be operated normally or automatically

Wrose Village
A 7mm narrow gauge excursion into fantasy!  At least two other scale/gauges are featured on the layout, including a miniature railway which uses digital printing and Z gauge mechanisms

Redwood Lumber
A Pacific Coast arrow-gauge logging operation with geared locomotives hauling timber from the woods to a sawmill past rickety buildings across dodgy trackwork - just like the prototype!  Built to a scale of On30, the layout features DCC and sound

Additionally, our multi-gauge test track will also be available, of course, for test-running your stock

Adam Boyes/Battleforge
A wide range of professionally painted figures of various types, including wargaming. Just a few of the figures and the new wagon loads including odd scenic items in Adam's range
